I dont think its an illusion. I think you caught the only anomalie NASA did not blur out in this pic.

This is an image I have enhanced. I do this occasionally to see what else there is in the picture.

The details are Sol 535 site AC for Spirit

2P172969701ESFAC00P2585L5M1 is the image number and there are at least 10 images of this area.

Actually, I dont think it is what we think it looks like, but it does look very much like something living...so I am just offering it up to you to see what our eyes and brain see in an image which is not necessarily there. Of course it could be there as well.
