Xenon, thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, the closeness of the view in the animation does not do the image justice. I should have zoomed out a little as the view would have been clearer.

I think this is where we possibly disagree. I am convinced by what I have observed in the images from Phoenix, the two MER's and now Curiosity that there are tiny structures on the surface that are built to an intelligent design. I do not think we will here anything from NASA about them but they are aware as I sent them some images a long time ago showing some of these constructed features. Of course, I would not to push this idea on anyone, but the evidence is there. It only needs a little patience and one will start to notice there are certain common characteristics about these very small constructions. Many of the buildings appear to have a large base unit with an additional construction on the roof. Could these additional structures contain a means for storing water? On close inspection, I have also seen pipes of various sizes either coming out of the ground or connected between structures. There are some pipe-like objects to be observed in the above image.

The geology is of interest as well. The upper section of the rock appears to be more smooth than the lower section which gives me the impression that thousands of years ago water flowed in this region and then disappeared for some unknown reason leaving behind many smaller rocks and alluvial deposits. The general surface texture of the rock looks 'rough' but it is only when zooming in for a much closer view that what really gives the rock this appearance can be observed.

I am sorry Timewarp but I disagree that they are structures (in the sense of artificial), I could believe that the the base of the rocks are what is left of the dissolving rock base eroded by the lifeforms, however there is no organisation or design to your structures that you would expect to a settlement.

We can imagine all sorts of wonderful creatures and imaginary outpost in the images we look at, most of the artificial looking anomalies and half buried structures we find on Mars would suit belonging to a being about the size of a human, and although members have found evidence for miniature settlements I feel that is not the case this time, just my opinion of course

many thanks for your replies and comments.

I believe that many thousands of years ago the martian surface was very dfferent world to what we can see today. At one time there was a huge ocean and an atmosphere that supported vegetation, but through the ages as the content of the atmosphere changed and the water on the surface disappeared only a small amount of regenerative surface vegetation remained. The evidence for this can be seen in the above images.

The images I am presenting here demonstrate two things. Firstly, there is vegetation of some description to be seen and secondly, but more importantly, for a long time I have maintained there is a huge tiny-sized civilization surviving and living on the planet. The evidence for their existence can be seen in their constructions. If the viewer looks closely at some of the images returned from Curiosity and the MER's, the same type of structural formations can be observed in many different locations.

The animation below is a crop and shows a very close view of the lower central area of the main image.

The arrows are pointing to some fine examples of the type of tiny structures that can be observed, not only at this location, but all over the planet.

If you zoom in a little the clarity still remains to a degree. The images used for the animation were png's.

As you all know, I too believe that there are mini Martians, not only because NASA are arrogant enough to go driving over all of their structures, grinding away their rocks in which they live, and just carrying on in a way which does not acknowledege them at all. We really deserve to have our rovers dismantled by the Martians.

I have seen what I think is vegetable life too. It comes in the form of lichens and fungus and simple plant life, so these green areas on these rocks could easily be this vegetable life.

I feel that it is some form of life (either mosses, alga, or bacteria etc.), rock forms like this often show patterns that look like something has eaten into the rock (similar to finds on earth), if this is the case then it makes sense that there will be other more complicated lifeforms that feed on them, otherwise they would be the dominant group and cover most of the exposed surface rock.

We know that early in earth's history while carbon-dioxide was the main gasses in the atmosphere that mosses and bacteria type lifeforms colonised the surface of the planet, even with mass extinction events this form of life survived to evolve in the newer environments, and I think Mars life is going through the same type of evolution after a recent mass extinction event.

Going back every 120,000 years or so we find that large ice-sheets have covered large parts of the surface of Mars only to recede high up at the poles like they are now, so where did all the liquid go? its not in the atmosphere, and we know the planet is replenishing the ice at each new ice age event that has been repeating itself for the past 10 million years, we know that this is down to Mars axis wobble that can wobble as much as 10 degrees from the current 25-degree angle,  when the ice sheets melt and humidity rises, the whole surface of the planet must come come to life, I am convinced Mars has underground oceans and that is where the missing liquid has gone and maybe most of Martian life, we can see that liquid has flowed very recently in many places from the deposit of rocks and stones and debris littering the surface which I suspect is because of tides welling up from below, so it is only logical to assume that life would follow the liquid, we have already discovered how life on earth can survive in hostile conditions (even in orbit), so discovering life on Mars should not be surprising if you understand how the planet works.

like Timewarp, I have seen many images showing this type of bloom on rocks (even in black and white), we know they are exposed to the harsh daily surface conditions yet are still surviving, and looking at the erosion at the rock base in his image" it is surviving very well".

I have place an ellipse around some of the small single and groups of shapes that I do not think are geological features but evidence of tiny-sized life activity.

Besides the objects I have highlighted even in the main image there are many other small objects to observe but you will need a careful eye to spot them.

Close inspection reveals that what appears to be a rough surface texture all over the rocks is really something else completely.

Take note of the regularity of some of the shapes.

qmantoo, I would be pleased to read any comments on what you or other members can observe.

Yes, I know of your other post about spherules etc.

What the green areas are showing on the rocks I do not know. Is it possible that they could be a form of grass or moss? I believe this may be one of the reasons why we are seeing such poor quality images from the Curiosity mastcam - to 'hide or camouflage what is really there.

If it is helpful I will post an image pointing to some of the shapes that I do not think are geological formations.

Oh, come on... at least point out one or two so that we know what you are seeing.

Information is power and something I know that you dont, is more power to me. Know what I am saying?
I have a secret too... actually it is posted on another forum, but it does have to do with vegetable life on Mars. Maybe I will bring it here if the thread goes that way.

So, do you think that the green colour is evidence of vegetable life on this rock do you?
Do you want us to comment on the vegetable life as this is what is in the title of this post or on the small structures we may see? Which would you prefer?

Here is a close view of the lower section of the image posted above. The image is a png.

It would appear that there are some very small structures showing on the rock that in no way can be classed as being geological features.

See if you can spot any of them.

Here is a cropped view of a large rock that was captured by Curiosity during sol 349.

I have applied an enhancement procedure to the rocks in the view. The foreground and background have not been enhanced. You will probably notice a slight touch of colour bleeding over to lower left of the rock. This was due to the brush used during the enhancement procedure and also when the colour saturation was increased. This has exagerated the boundary between the rock and deepened the colour of the terrain in that spot.

When I started to enhance the image nothing unusual was noticed except that the edge definition of the detail on the rock started to improve. When I applied the procedure a second time some very feint green areas started to show up. I checked the histogram for the original NASA image and found that there is a level of green in the image. It was only when I increased the colour saturation by 200% that the different areas of colour on the rocks became much more apparent. The RGB colour levels were changed slightly in an attempt to produce a more natural looking view.

The increase in colour saturation has revealed that there are some different areas of colour on the rock. These colours cannot be seen in the original NASA download. Maybe this is one of the reasons why they are not releasing true colour images from Curiosity, just in case we may notice something.

Could there really be some form of green vegetation on the rock? What do you think?

If you zoom in to the image some other shapes can also be observed which can only relate to civilization evidence. There are many interesting objects to observe. They are very small but with a little patience many of the small objects can be realized.
