It is good to see members openly debating this anomaly, but after playing around with the contrast, inverting etc. I am still not convinced it is not a rock, the whole panorama is littered will anomalies, not least the pizza/pastry cutter (said by some to look like a wand with a star) to the left of the man/rock is a carving, there is even some blurring taking place, and half buried box shapes just to name a few, but I have been known to be wrong before and still need convincing on this one.

To my reconing, the sun is about 1 O'clock-ish. I had also, roughly, marked some rock/shadows ( attached ) and basically came up with the same general angle or time. This is consistent with ' the image ' or ' man ' .. who shows no shadow at that angle directly, his right arm and half the back however, do show the correct ' shadow.'
The ' shadow which looks as if it lends weight to the ' man argument ', is basically impossible as the man's shadow, which would be mostly directly below him. However, this ' argument ' is yours Q, not mine, and invalid, for it is in fact a separate person altogether that is being viewed here. The ' head ' is much lighter, and there is a hat that is just a little darker, and a faint but visible outline of arms and clothes present also.
Now, let's say this man is sitting on a boulder with his legs in front and thus ' disappearing ' from sight. That his left arm is around a ladyfriends shoulder near the neck, and her right arm is somewhat around his waist in a slightly angled position. There is also something near the end of her hand, but is not a part of it, and it is this that has given you the initial impression that the man had ' a particularly long left arm.'
I know it's a kinda different interpretation, even bizzar at first, but I want you to look at the attached very closely my friend .. and then perhaps you might reconsider and ' take this seriously ' now? As you ' agree it does look like a man ', so take a leap of faith, go the extra mile, give a shadow of a doubt Q .. believe, and it ( just might ) be so. Your Call Q. Cheers / -M
I wish to insert a couple of quotes here if I may. One is from ledzep 3447, a ' newbie ' who, on his very first post says of this pic, " Wow!!! Just jumps out at ya don't it. Amazing." And again, from a fellow ' graduate ' of 44, our friend and colleague Timewarp says ( a classic ) " It's quite amazing what can be discovered when one examines an image more closely."
Which way is the sun coming from and is this consistent with the image? Also, he appears to have a particularly long left arm and is cut off at the knees due to height or else his feet are buried underground. The shadow which looks as if it lends weight to the 'man' argument is not in the correct direction for the sun direction. I agree it does look like a man but the questions which pop into my head as outlined above, mean that I cannot take this seriously at all.
Really Q , who ordered or said we should be out to convince ' some scientist ... somewhere ' about anything ?!! I don't believe a directive or consensus has been taken on such a matter, so will drop it for now . Besides, do you really think that government, or even private ' scientists ' are at all prepared to agree to anything unless allowed to within those circles ?
Anyways Q ... am arrowing the short-sleeved shirted man with his back to the camera, just as, and I concur, Ken A has rightfully discovered and pointed out to us clearly. And personally, I am not angry about anything Q ... not at all ... really. Cheers / -M
Forgive me for being a sceptic, but where exactly is this shirt? Can someone mark it please.
I think there may be more going on at Mars than we think, but I do feel that we may have lost our way in seeing things which cannot be seen by others. I mean, if we have any hope of convincing some scientist somewhere, we will probably have to go the route of showing him the anomalies to make him think more about what he sees when he looks at the Mars images.
Currently we seem to have gone off down the road where we believe there are all kinds of people and things which are semi-transparent. Surely, the first place to look for an explanation for these semi-transparent things is either image artifacts, tampering, or some kind of smoke or cloud effect on Mars itself. I feel we really need to come down from la-la land a little and let our feet touch the ground to connect with reality. Get out and walk bare-footed in the grass (without stepping in anything nasty!).
Yes, you may feel anger at my comment, too bad, but we have to make sure we do not alienate the people who visit this site looking for evidence and showing them what you all agree you see, is not what they see when they first arrive here. As I and others have said many times, it needs to be clear and in your face obvious and these semi-transparent items are not anywhere near that.
Get back to basics of finding different views of anomalies in different official images and then if they still exist in two or more images taken from different times or locations, then the scientists have something to answer.
Just finished a short note to Macten and stopped to check your submission here. That there is indeed a short-sleeved shirted man present is true .. and the trenches around him are likewise filled with protruding shoulders and heads ( people ). And lots of other items about as well. Will get back to you on this shortly Ken A . Great observing, excellent find, and a clear concise presentation.. / -Morbius
