I have really enjoyed Keith Laneys site he does offer up some good incite.  Have you listened to his band? confuse  You are definitely right about the telescope images.  Here is a link to a pretty good story Richard Hoagland does on the same study.

I really like this one because you can see the different cloud formations by the north pole and it has the same true color.

I often look at the Martian weather at the malin site, unfortunately any off earth images of Mars are false colour because of the different filters used, but the Hubble and many ground based telescopes show similar colour, so in this case it is very close to what would be true colour, Keith Laney has done some ground breaking work on the colour of Mars and is well worth looking at....  http://keithlaney.net/
