Looking at your zoomed picture, I agree it is more 5D or SD. And it seems that the "writing" goes on under the sand on the same rock. Moreover rock is flat on the side and it seems it had a shape, this makes things more strange.

Then about Nasa, on Sol84 Mastcam view, there is only one full picture of terrain with "rocks" then few zoomed view where they avoid that flat rock of course smile

Good find! I have slightly enhanced the rock and it appears to be a 5D, not that that detracts in any way from your find.

I also found another little something in the corner of this pic that appears to be looking at us!

THat thing makes me laugh every time i look at it!

This is from Curiosity Sol 84. There's a rock almost in the middle that seems flat with the number 54 on it. Numbers seem underlined.
