ejwilson, hello. I believe you have identified yet another fortification-wall, and although in disrepair, still has sections that demonstrate a flat-topped pathway or road. In some ways it resembles, on a smaller scale, the Geat Wall of China, yet with some elements of the Maginot Line present as well. Am attaching a study set of 3 pics that you may wish to examine in this regard. The first should demonstrate the extreme obfuscation which needed penetration. The final 2 are the results. These show the roadway you have corretly identified, and details of the surounding buildings emerging as well. Just confirming and clarifying your find ej, so you have my view , and support, on yet another fine view of the true Mars unnecessarily withheld from us . -Morbius

I think this is another piece of creative art from NASA. The background hills have no detail and there is an abrupt change at "the line" across the middle. I suppose it could be that they have done different obscuring techniques for foreground and background, but I dont think they would bother to do that - I just think the hills are generated and the foreground is obscured or excessively compressed. See if you can find a better image somewhere perhaps?
I have cropped the photo out of the panorama so you can see it is near the "stovepipe" part of the rover near the left edge of the picture. Here's my version. The road starts at the far right of my image.
