The crater is Firsov. The above link will take you to all of the images of the crater. The panoramics from Apollo 16 also show something on the rim of the crater in the same location.
Hi Dave I think that is definately the crater in the front of the larger image so thanks for that but isnt the crater where the 'spaceship' anomaly sits Lobachevsky?
I am not an expert so I stand to be corrected but I have found 2 old anomalies relating to the same crater ironically both have been referred to as other craters namely the 'firsov' anomaly and the 'guyot anomaly'. Neither seemed to be the crater in question so I searched the LROC map to find landmarks which look the same. The LROC map does have a landmark which might explain the altitude shot which I have shown top left. (Maybe this is it?)
Just wondering if the anomaly below which has on a few sites been reffered to the Guyot anomaly is in fact the same thing!!

Apologies polluks it wasnt your image it was actually goggogs I was asking about. Its the one below extracted from the bigger picture. I think javiad provided the original in the first post on this thread so perhaps I should be asking him really.
I was wondering if I could get some idea of the crater and therefore get some co-ordinates so I could take a closer look. If indeed the camera has captured this acurately it must be enormous. Any ideas anyone??

Hi, The Genealogist, would you clarify the place on a picture where "large anomaly to the left of the crater", that you mean. Cuz there so many craters.
On the right of that place, which marked by goggog, is anomaly sticking out part of the rock that looks like something artificial:
Sure is polluks. Hi by the way. Has anyone ever been able to find the large anomaly to the left of the crater. Do we know what crater it is? Would I be wasting my time trying to find it on the LRO? Cant imagine NASA would allow that to be seen at a high resolution / magnification?
I have added a slide and tried to show where the image is on the above photo. I have also tried to show how I got to the final image on the previous posting.
Buenos tardes javiqd a very interesting photo. I had a quick scan of your photos and I managed to find something very interesting namely an anomaly that I have been looking at just recently on other photos including an Apollo 15 photo. I pulled up NASA version too and lo and behold it’s on there too!! I have tried to detail all this in 1 slide but please look at the ‘Similar Anomalies’ thread to see the same anomaly on the moons surface. You can see the anomaly on your first photo by the way towards the bottom left corner.
