Hi goggog,  I'v had a look too, and was playing around with brightness / contast on Gimp, to see beyond the camera glare, on image - https://mars.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/proj/msl/redops/ods/surface/sol/02900/opgs/edr/ccam/CR0_654933344EDR_F0822176CCAM03899M_.JPG.

I did find something worth posting but this site won't let me upload the image, maybe copyright ? or size? I did try to scale it down but no joy. I'm trying a screenshot

Cannot see anything from facebook, or any social media site. I am surprised Russia does not block them too but maybe they are not so sensitive as China is.
This is just about the only thread that is being updated which is a shame.

Also, we should remember that this forum is not backed up, so anything posted needs to be copied to our local computer otherwise it will be lost if there is a crash or the forum gets closed.

Awesome and Undisputable, thank you Goggog

I think perhaps Noah came from Mars in a vessel that sailed here in the water of Mars - that lifted up in the tail of comet Venus as it passed by - causing a deluge here on Earth.

Yes there's a lot of moving images around and changing/ deleting them. The new multimedia image viewer makes it difficult to find them, and many images are changed, moved or just not there.

I once found a kiln, image below, sol 1243, and it's obvious, and even has a hinged lid. (I used to make pottery) . The lids of kilns are very thick and the hinge has to be strong.

It was msl-raw-images/msss/01243/mcam/1243ML0057960010...  (can't find last bit) but looked through all raw images for that day and it's gone

https://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/resources/22321/curiosity-on-the-clay-unit/?site=msl - Article about an area rich in clay uses an image from that Sol day!!

https://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw-images/?order=sol+desc%2Cinstrument_sort+asc%2Csample_type_sort+asc%2C+date_taken+desc&per_page=50&page=1&mission=msl&begin_sol=1243&end_sol=1243 - All images from that Sol day, it isn't there.

I made a post on my blog about this and another image I think you'll like, I'll post the other in "something creeping out"

Two silent walk-throughs of how I filter the colours: www.afterzen.co.uk/wanderings/

In this one,

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/msss/00666/mcam/0666ML0028380230303598E01_DXXX.jpg

I am interested in the figures in front of these giant stone faces

I really like that one on the left, it looks like an alien face to me.

Is that a forked tongue coming out of his mouth?smile Nice find Sapa.

And there is one on the far right that reminds me of this one from sol 666.

Thanks Sapa, the last two I posted gave me the creeps.  I probably could have put them in that "grotesque thread" or like you said start a new one.

I posted a link to a lecture today where the guy talks about that monster  head.  It was pretty good, a lot of the same ideas we talk about.

Levelwind, Nice find. I've seen other faces in the raw data with those wormlike protusions coming from the mouth, seems like another theme

Looking at the RAW images from that sol, found something on http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/msss/01400/mcam/1400MR0068530190702006E01_DXXX.jpg

It isn't a portrait but it's near to things in some of the Mars images on that day that reminded me of toys

This first photo is the one below that I lightened up.  The second was taken the sol before and the creature is not there.  It even

looks like the same angle.  I think the rover might be drilling again?  I also thought the thing in the green square looked out of place too.

It's pretty fun to toggle these two crops back and forth.

I have all the rocks and everything lined up, give it try.smile

Just for another example of how nasa messes with these "images", the rear haz cam that I cropped from below has a time stamp from today less

than one minute apart ( 2016-05-13 01:38:24 UTC ) from this front haz cam shot>>>>

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/proj/msl/redops/ods/surface/sol/01339/opgs/edr/fcam/FLB_516374228EDR_F0540938FHAZ00323M_.JPG

with a time stamp of, 2016-05-13 01:37:57 UTC.  Somehow it's almost night time in the rear and broad day light in the front confuse.....  Nice one again nasa!
