It seems as though NASA is using some sort of photoshop wizard to duplicate areas and objects once again. Yet, I do feel that there is some sort of biological life on the planet Mars. For instance, read Skippers article about the 'water bears'. Thanks for the follow up.
There have been images posted which show vast bodies of liquid on Mars, not just on here but by Skipper too. If these are truthful images of the conditions on Mars (which noone knows whether they are truthful or not), then things are very different to how we have been fed the information about Mars. Perhaps after 2012 there will be more information coming to light - who knows?
The white stuff looks like it could be ice but then how could the ground be that soft?
We often take for granted that conditions on Mars would be similar to Earth, but Mars is an alien world that has has less gravity and atmospheric pressure than our own planet, and its hydrology has evolved differently to our own, so it is possible that a brine or other like liquid saturates some of the Martian soils which freezes when exposed to the atmosphere, I have noticed a lot of rover tracks seem to show wet/damp soils (the Phoenix lander had ice droplets on it landing struts as well as finding ice just below the surface), we also have to remember that even our best scientist don't really know what is happening on Mars (or other planetoids for that matter)

Yea those tracks don't make much sense do they? I've wondered if this is when Spirit had the stuck wheel but it still doesn't look right, especially the tracks to the left of the skid mark. The white stuff looks like it could be ice but then how could the ground be that soft?
goggog, you probably are right here. Let's look more closely at the background of a webpage. Specifically, the right part. The arrows point to things that are worth a careful examination.
this Possible biological growth on image from: Opportunity :: Panoramic Camera :: Sol 2691 at Endeavor Crater has the same size, from closest to farthest from the lens, but it is not convincing in real . I brought a specific area marked # 1 to # 2, for comparison.
My conclusion is that the texture of the picture is fake.
The other thing to recognise is that we have found supporting evidence of round 'things on stalks' which look very simlar to fungal fruiting bodies see here . Now, maybe have a look at this one and tell me what else we know of on Earth which has a similar look. My speculation is that there are a number of fungi on Mars and some fruiting bodies grow on stalks and some are more like puffballs without stalks. There are pictures of what looks like lichen too.
If there was any life at all on Mars, then you would probably need some kind of fungus species to help break down the dead matter into its component parts for decomposition and renewal.
So... rather than tell us what it is not, perhaps Eaol, you give us your best guess as to what it is we are seeing here. Of course, you may well go with the official suggestion that they are just spherules of a mineral deposit found in the rock.
Eaol, All that I am saying is that if you look at geological evidence you don't find such uniformity. Spirit and Opportunity have been photographing these things from the very beginning and they are all about the same size and shape. If you look at any living thing, being a plant, animal, insect, or fungus of any given species I think you'll find that they will be similar in size and shape. Where as almost every rock, mountain, dune, or river valley is unique in shape and size.
a)Everyone: You cannot assume a fruiting body just because something faintly resembles a fungus.
b)gbull: You cannot tell the age of the object in question, gbull, without having already assumed it were alive.
c)gbull: To be clear, although you say that the official explanation does not sit well with you, it does not mean that it is not true. If you would like to do some research on that and look at different strictly scientific viewpoints, you could strengthen your case if you so wished to do so.
d)Levelwind: Well, that's non-sequitur. You cannot base the assumption that it is a living thing solely off of the bases that it appears to be the same size and is round-ish in shape.
1)Maybe the idea that they are fruiting bodies from some kind of fungus is possibly correct?
You need better evidence than what you have presented here. As of now it's just a blind bit of speculation. Speculation is good, but you should support it. I would respect anyone with the courage to attempt that here.

Good observation. I agree, and how about how they are all so uniform in size like you would expect to see if they were a living thing. All growing to about the same size.
I dont know what you all think, but this blueberry/spherule appears to either be wedged in this crack in the rock - or it appears to be growing out of it.
The v-shape at 5'oclock (taking the circle of the spherule as a clock face) seems to be following the contour of the rock which suggests to me that it has grown there. Maybe the idea that they are fruiting bodies from some kind of fungus is possibly correct?
