Sorry I meant to say the probe did leave tracks, the area is not hard. These impressions could very well be from the air bags deployed on landing. __________________ Uther Pendragan

If you go to the NASA image site and look at the nav cam and haz cam images for this area you will notice the the probe made no tracks as it moved away. The surface here is hard. smile

Yeah the problem with that idea is that these things are all over
the place on Mars. The air bags do appear similar in design but, how
could air bags made have so many impressions?

Ah, yes watcher, look they even have a detailed sequence of the bouncing landing of the twin rovers. Watch! This way of landing gear in other planets should be patented as soon as possible.
