This is a giant snail like thing goggog  found, it's head showed hidden. I had to enhance it  to bring it up

I call them martian puppies. Here you can see another example, standing next to the astronut.

BTW according to the wiki: careous is an adjective meaning mostly or partly composed of calcium carbonate, in other words, containing lime or being chalky. The term is used in a wide variety of scientific disciplines.

Hmm, that is kinda weird. Looks like flaps, but all of them are the same size and arranged in a pattern.
