Please accept my apologies for misinterpretation of this particular image.
I have checked the original data in the Apollo archives and found you were perfectly correct in saying the object in question is the extended coil antenna onboard the satellite which is facing down towards the moon's surface.
However, if there was a huge mast on the moon, this is how it would appear taking into account the angle of the satellite relative to the vertical and the perspective.
TM, take a look at this image without preconceptions, just as if it were for the very first time ....

In one of the series of lunar images, the antenna attached to the satellite can be seen clearly. In the image shown above the top of the mast is not attached to anything and the parabolic reflectors get smaller lower down the masts. This is due to perspective as the top of the mast is closer to the camera than the base. It can also be seen that the bottom of the mast is anchored to a very large base. Check it out and you will see.

I though we established that these 'antenna masts' on the right edge of the picture were some part of the satellite taking the picture? This picture has appeared before somewhere on the forum I think. I seem to have read a comment by Marsrocks or someone(maybe xenon, cannot remember who, sorry) on that thread that this was the case.

The two main objects are the very tall masts with dish antenna installed their full length. This also makes sense when taking into account prospective. The dishes closer to the camera are larger than those at the bottom of the masts.
Everything else in the image is casting a significant shadow. An especially egregious anomaly is a pair of huge antenna masts, each many kilometers high, that seem to cast no hint of a shadow.
I feel the orientation of the above image makes more sense in the image shown below.

Who installed them, or what they are used for, is a matter for conjecture, but there is something interesting to note, the dishes are all pointing in the same direction. Also, no stay wires are apparent so possibly they are self supporting.

GM. I could clean up the image but it did not make sense until i filpped it around. Like you said I was prepared to find a tower because I've read about this. But what I found was no craters but a cliff with a hole in it and some gadgets on the porch. So I think you are right. I myself interpreted it that way as a point of entry to something more sophisticated inside.
BTW the moon is not flat. There is no landing site on the moon which would serve our purposes. Like my motto on youtube says. We've been duped since kids.
