Yes gmantoo. As a rule of thumb in the martian terrain you will only see faces, faces and more faces (or representations of faces) like those of the mayans or egyptians. When they do not appeat something is wrong. The sarcophagus is also shown in your http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/n/1312/2N242845968EFFAV00P1962L0M1.JPG but is more difficult to bring to view.
If you examine very very carefully in the animated gif, the sky is the continuation of the "mountains" though when the mountains are brought to vision they are faces ... I mean face sculptures looking like carved on solid rock (because at times I think they are moving), something like our Rushmore but on Mars they are everywhere..
I do take all comments seriously. However, I have not got around to examining the land part of the image yet, so that is why I was continuing to discuss the 'thing' in the sky. The sequence you have shown is interesting and does appear to show more things in the near and middle-distance. Is this where you for us to see the rectangular sarcophagus like object?
I know you don;t take me seriously, but why don't you for just one moment consider the hypothesis I put up might be the case. That is that whatever you are seeing are traces of terrain that should be there and was washed out?
I did notice the damage to the lens and that is in the picture, but not in the area I have reproduced which is well away from the border of the picture.
The other thread is about a white dot which could be a damaged pixel or a high-speed martian travelling at the speed of light (ie: an x-ray or cosmic ray).
The images above are dark, not likely lens damage and appear to be 'things' (whatever they are?)
qmantoo, if I'm not wrong we addressed this is a much earlier thread and resolved it was a scartch/glich on one of the lenses they used. It pops up quite often. I think Humanoid may be able to confirm that ...
Not quite so Chandre (IMHO). This image is heavily tampered. The skyline/ sky is continuance of the terrain (a masterpiece in the art of deception). To deobfuscate this image would take more time than I was willing to dedicate. Below there is a rectangular sarcophagus like object adorned with overwhelming gargoyles. Remember, everything IMHO.

With my beady little eye, I spied these...I do not think these are specks on the lenses as they would be out of focus and blurry, so they must be either image artifacts or something else. They cannot be dead pixels either ('cos they are white not black) All are from the same Sol, the first one having a 'mothership' or another closer or higher up in the sky. Maybe NASA will say it is a planet or a weather balloon perhaps?
