I will have to make do with the pictures posted by NASA

See this one for at least 3 meteorites entering the atmosphere (or comets or whatever). It is a really clear starry night there.

gmantoo, I am sorry but I believe this site is unique to the Southern skies. I am sorry you are missing it as it really is beautiful.

I am about 39 degrees N, so not quite in the southern hemisphere. All I can recognise is Ursa major, the North star and Orions belt!

For those in the Southern Hemisphere....keep an eye on the skies tonight and you should be rewarded with the double jewels, one blue and one red of Mars and Regulus shining brightly on the western side.

It really is a spectacular sight and I've been taking time to admire it every night for the past week.
