These flashes have been appearing in images of the EARTH taken from space. It is said they are ice crystals, but how large would these ice crystals have to be, to be imaged as a flash from space?
Wouldn't the flash last for a few seconds while the sun was in the correct angle to the satellite that was observing it? Then when the sun moved out of the correct alignment, the flash would disappear.
Wouldn't they sparkle as many sides of tiny ice crystals line up to the sun as it was blown about in the wind? There must be many, many ice crystals up there as it is really cold that high up.
Wouldn't you need a sheet with an almost perfect flat surface to give a flash like this?
Maybe more likely they are reflections from space craft in the upper atmosphere. Just speculation of course.
