I have found a different view of the same area with what appears to be mechanical debris this pilot could have been navigating. I originally thought this was another skull of the same type but after looking at Skippers site he sites Sol 513 and this pic came from Sol 512. This is just a different angle.
This may be controversial, but the attached are of the puzzling skull on Mars. We are all likely familiar with it from Skipper's site, and has been examined on AA. I remember this photo from years ago when it first came out and my view initially, and still is, this. This is the remains of a soldier, or more likely a pilot. Look closely at the many mechanical parts that remain. Between the eye-sockets for example is a Y shaped piece of metal, all that remains of a heads-up visor attached to a pilots helmet. There is the breathing-mask and communication unit below, as a close-up reveals such parts. As such, it would appear a fighter-pilot of long-ago ended up on the sands of Mars, hit with a searing heat/weapon that fused his helmet and face together. This ties in with a very ancient " war in the heavens " account. If so, this was a very brave pilot whom we may never really know his story. Of course, this is my own take on this, but what if the pieces of the puzzle be accurately interpreted?
