Hi Morbius absolutely no problem at all. In fact please feel free to look at the 'Jeep' anomaly below. Remember this is one of the images I challenged the Arizona State Uni to explain. My argument is that if their 50% res images produce objects such as jeeps, dragon's and alien like creatures - how can we take any of the photographic data seriously. I dont believe its just me that sees this. Magnification does distort, I accept that - but I dont believe it can create objects and figures from nothing. After I challenged them (and they replied) the image was suddenly replaced with a less detailed version as can be found on the Quick map-site now. As to whether a rogue film scientist is adding these....well. Misinformation is still the name of the game even in 2012. What country is likely to investigate the moon if its thought something is there that could be harmful to us? My argument - why put out these images if these things are likely to appear? Imagine showing a class of kids in school. 'Children here's a detailed image of Tycho crater - Oooops! Sorry children please ignore the spaceships in the foreground and the towers in the background as they are obviously not real'. Oh and that robot lifting a boulder onto that rectangular craft - ignore that too'..!?!
In the 2nd World War the allies made fullsize wooden framed tanks and invasion craft. They were covered in hessian and painted to mislead the enemy into thinking an invasion would come from a different location. It was called Operation Fortitude. From the air it 'all' looked real. Now there's a thought!!!
Genealogist, just caught your latest post and am impressed by your appproach, and particularly ... the results obtained. I have a couple items to clear up on my desk here, and will have some free time to do a thorough examination and report of your post next ... if you would be interested? - Morbius
Every now and then I check back on the various LROC images to make sure that the anomalies still appear or if they have been overwritten with a more up to date image. Whilst checking the 'Jeep' anomaly posted below which appears on LROC image M157675223L I decided to do a 'meter by meter' comparison with the latest image that appears on the Quick map site. After two or three hours of doing this I came across the following location.
On M157675223L the image has to be turned 180 degrees to view.
Normally I would put any differences down to the angle of the sunlight falling on the surface or inconsistences in the resolution of the images. This however seems worthy of mention as there definately seems to be an object with a rectangular shadow that appears in one and not the other. Obviously I would not haev expected the shadows to be in the same place on both images as the direction of the sunlight is from different directions but the object appears to be large enough in slide 2 to cast a shadow whatever the angle of the sun. Observations or counter arguments welcome.
Rocks A B C & D have been highlighted in both images to help with the position / expected position of the anomaly.
I should warn members and casual observers that I have sent the slide for this location on the LRO map to the Arizona University for their opinion. Their reply is below. They state that what we are seeing are boulders and nothing else. In my own defence I would like you to know that I look at mile after square mile of lunar landscape and find absolutely nothing, zilch, most of the time. Not even a smidgen of an anomaly. However in Tycho, Copernicus, King crater and Egede I have found plenty to right home about. The irony is that Tycho and Copernicus are on the near side of the moon not the backside of the moon. If anything or 'anyone' has been there in the past or is still there today they have been able to watch the earth every single minute since they arrived. Now there's a thought!
Looking back at this previous post I noticed something I had missed the first time round so Ive posted the original slide together with 2 more that seem to show an anomaly that looks for the world like a dragon or top half of a sea-horse. Very strange. This is shown more clearly in the 3rd slide. The first shows the original anomalies which were posted at the beginning including the jeep like vehicle.

Over the years I have become very cynical and untrusting of official data. There are discussions on here which suggest all kinds of modifications are done to what we (or scientists) get to see. Modifications which are done by artificial intelligence computer systems so that it is mostly automatic. This modification was confirmed by one of the members of the Disclosure Project run by Dr Steven Greer. Personally I am suspiscious of him too since by now many of the things which they has supposedly uncovered should have been laid to rest and the alledged lies and untruths should have been addressed. However, nothing seems to have been done apart from a few press releases and so maybe it was just a way to find out the government employees who do not want to keep the secret and get them to expose themselves. Just my take on the matter anyway..
qmantoo..... thank you so much for your reply. Yes I think it was a very good reply also. I must admit I was surprised to receive such a lengthy and detailed assessment of my 1st effort and such a detailed breakdown of their maps limitations.
I am new to this type of research and felt that I needed to know from the top where my observations sit so to speak. As you can see the ASU state that the LRO quick map is only a 50% resolution of the original scans so anything I observe is basically inaccurate from the start. Its a hard knock but I can handle it.....I just have to try harder to be more accurate.
However, I am wondering that if they have the 100% resolution version could I not ask them to look up my co-ordinates and put this to rest once and for all. The problem for me is this.......how trustworthy is the Quickmap on their site. If I am seeing things 'in the rocks' how reliant is it on a simple geological and educational level. Its only 50% of the original. Surely it works both ways.
Needless to say they have never explained any of this on their site (that I can find) and yet they actively promote it as the most detailed map of the moon ever.
That was a good reply. Normally these kind of people dont reply to any suggestion that there are strange things in the photos. well done for asking them.
I am really sorry to say that I cannot see anything particularly anomalous there and I did look carefully. This does not mean that there is nothing there, it just means that I cannot see it in this photo at the moment. I do believe that there are strange things shown in the various photos of areas on the Moon as there are on Mars too.
The co-ordinate boxes (bottom right) can be edited after you go to the last or last-but-one item on the lefthand +/- scale, so I only had to enter the co-ordinates twice. After entering the second co-ordinate, press return key to make the map go to the required position.
Somewhere on this site, there is a picture of a rover which is not a standard lunar Rover and not a Russian one either. You may be interested in that too. I will try and find the link.
I was surprised to receive such a long and lengthy explanation from the University but at least it draws a line in the sand for me. So members please have a look and tell me what you think. The co-ordinates of the group of anomalies below are as follows
Firstly the link to the site is
http://target.lroc.asu.edu/da/qmap.html
The co-ordinates that need to be typed in the bottom right hand boxes are as follows:-
Latitude:- -43.75458 Long -12.42353
Please tell me what you see at 0.5 meters per pixel.(Shown in left hand box and blue scale) Just be aware that the co-ordinates change themselves as you go so be prepared to retypeat each stage of the process.

I believe you are falling into the common trap with remotely sensed images, which is the thought that at higher image magnifications will provide higher resolution (i.e. see ‘ hidden’ details). Increasing the magnification of the NAC images does not provide any greater resolving power that the nominal 5cm per pixel (for an image acquired with the LRO spacecraft at an altitude of 50km). The only way to increase the resolving power is to lower the altitude of the spacecraft (which has happened due to the elliptical fixed orbit).
Actual resolutions of LROC NAC images can vary from 0.38 meters per pixel (acquired at an altitude of 20km) up to 30 meters per pixel (acquired at an altitude of 70km)
Additional what you are seeing on the Quick map interface is a 50 % reduced resolution (to save space). To see the full resolution you would need to download the image and view it directly.
In your paragraph you mention extracting information from damaged documents, which are produced to have contrast between background of the document and the text written on the document. This is ordered structured information that you are attempting to interpret. On the moon, there is nothing but regolith, rocks and boulders and other geologic features. There are no ‘toys’, anomalies structures or any other higher order structure other than expressed from the lunar weathering of the surface. Any geometrical regularity or structure you are interpreting is only from your mind attempting to provide order to over magnified scene. Viewed at 100% resolution , I would argue the boulders look just like boulders, nothing more or less.
