Very bizarre to think that random geology can produce a giant pyramidal structure in the middle of two fairly convincing lion images that are 180 degrees opposite each other and also interposed upon one another.
I used solarize to render, though the effect is not exactly the same.
Then I took it to an extreme to see what I would get:
Top left: your lion.
top middle: raw desaturated image.
top right: a larger lion encompassing the first.
bottom left: Aries the Ram or goat.
bottom middle: extreme solarized version.
bottom right: small cow head or taurus.
Also take a look in the extreme right one-third of the picture - the same cow appears in a larger size in an exact puzzle match-up to the larger lion.
Weird stuff to play with - still don't know what we have here but it's curious.
For those who haven't seen it, there is also an awesome lion visible at this same spot in the landscape when the picture is turned 180 degrees without making any changes to it.
And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
Is this the best imaging they are saying is available? Thats ridiculous but I suppose the scientists have to work with what they can get access to.
Interesting technique and combined with accurate topographic(?) mapping would also show dips and bumps where these things are buried. I bet there is a whole lot of data that, when combined, could show us all kinds of useful things. Trouble is that you probably need to be attached to a university to get access to it or the processing power necessary to process it in reasonable timescales.
Once attached to a university, then you are subject to grants, and financial influences which normal people are not influenced by. (my english is terrible)
You may already be aware that NASA has developed processes to combine color satellite imagery with thermal imagery in order to find ancient structures under the sands of Egypt.
The technique has not been disclosed publicly to my knowledge.
You may also know that the color images from ESA often contain one or more thermal/infra red layers, as well as color layers.
Your technique is interesting to me, as it appears to reveal underlying structure. The structure you are revealing may not be simple defects that can be explained such as from sharpening - as it sometimes reveals circles as well as straight lines.
I wish you would detail your process for further study.
"Seventeen lost pyramids are among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt.More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings. Initial excavations have already confirmed some of the findings, including two suspected pyramids. The research led by Dr Sarah Parcak from the University of Alabama at Birmingham features in a BBC documentary, Egypt's Lost Cities on BBC One on Monday 30 May at 2030 BST. It will also be shown on the Discovery channel in the US."
