RE: An Unusual Mars Anomaly

Well, here is another Mars  anomaly I found a couple of weeks ago. I found it also on a Mars Orbiter CTX camera photo. This object also sticks out like a sore thumb, relative to its surroundings. Again, I will post a screenshot, and  link to the CTX photo.

What I see here is an anomaly that appears to be silver, has a rouded dome shape, and has six visible circular areas on its face, which could be something like windows. My rough guess as to its size, is about 400 ft wide/dia. Whatever it is, it is "different!!!

To help you locate the anomaly in this very tall photo:

1. When you see the photo, notice that near the top of the photo is a dark area. The anomaly is in the lower left of that darker area, on the top of a rocky formation.. You will still need to look closely.

2. Notice at the bottom of the photo are buttons which can be used in the search. You will need to use the + button to magnify all the way to best see the anomaly. (I use "full screen too)

I wil be looking forward to hearing your comments!

Wondering also but we are at mercy of technology; so why not look at strange right here on E? In the Natl Geo is Gobekli Tepe and that should be strange enough for anybody. No sign of workmen's kitchens, lodging, etc., but on a plain 3 miles away from water 10,000 y ago people built structures of rings, the inner inaccessible unless using ladders, the outer with an entrance 'tube.'
And this site had auroch and impala bones aplenty. But the article fails to state if the bones showed signs of knife cuts, something that would help in categorizing this unexplainable site.

katesisco, that is a good question. There certainly are a lot of still unknowns about planet Earth, even though a great amount of money and time have been spent trying to "discover" everything. We at least do know it is inhabited, with over 6 billion people, with a few even being reasonably intelligent! smile Actually. to find somethig new and undiscovered on Earth is probably harder to do, than researching available NASA data to find something fresh and unknown about the planet Mars.

A good point relative to your question is.......we each are free to persue areas of reasearch which interest each of us the most. And I say that is a great thing. Only the results of research can truly exhibit its importance to mankind, past, present, and future.

So, for me, it is a fun thing to research the NASA data, and to share with others here anything unusual that I find.

Hey marsrocks! Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to wonder if this really was a discussion forum, this being my first post.smile

It is too bad this object is partially covered, otherwise we could tell a lot more about it. But, when we look very closely, we can be pretty sure this is a circular anomaly of some kind. Whatever the seemingly "broken" white pieces are in the interior of the object's "face", one can just make out other "points" of the "covered white pieces" coming to the center from the covered side. This would indicate that the rounding of the "face" continues under the covering, and, on that basis, one might "assume" that this is more like a circular object.

I guess it might depend upon how one looks at it, but, to me, this looks like an object of intelligent design, whatever it is.  Is it a disc - can't tell for sure. The near rounded edge of the object does appear to be up, off of the ground, because of the way the "tundra" looks to be under it.

I would be interested in hearing what othere are seeing here!.

That's a pretty neat formation.  Not a lot of people are searching the CTX for anomalies, so I'm glad to see someone doing that!

I look forward to seeing more of your finds!

Hi all! Since I only joined this forum recently, this will be my first post here. What I enjoy doing is researching the various Mars photo databases, to look for any any sign of life, past or present. I have found a few that I consider very interesting, and I wil post them individually, over the next several days. I am sincerely interested in finding anomalies we all are interested in, and that are worth some discussion.

The anomaly I am posting today is from a faitly high quality CTX photo, and is at the south pole area of Mars. I will post a direct link to the CTX photo, so you can go look at it yourself, and I will also post a screen shot here, if I can make that work.

In the photo, the anomaly is located near the top right of the photo, near the right edge, and just above the beginning of the white stuff - show and ice I guess. The anomaly is mostly under some dark "thatchy looking" tundra stuff, with just a part of it visible. Magnification is really necessary to see the anomaly, on the surface. Magnified, when you see it, it will stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know what it is, but I do think it is worth some discussion, and comment.

If the screen shot file shows up here (lol), it wil nee a one click magnification too.
