Not posted here but elsewhere, it has been explained as a 'mine' entrance with the miners road leading to it.

If you look it up on Google Earth (it's called Indian Head) there is a photo taken by a paraglider that shows you it is a valley, so it is a negative almost where the head is indented rather than carved into a hill. Interesting....reminds me of the Colossal Head on Mars which also seems to be an indented structure rather than a hill.....

Looks as if there is some kind of path leading into the ear, which itself looks like some sort of entrance to a cave maybe?

Nice image.  It does look something like a person's head in profile view.  Not that it means anything (to me at least).
