I have just read the message in four threads. I suggest things are left as they are as some of the enhancements that Frutty has shown are very interesting although the images have been altered to a certain degree by the application of a graphical process.
To bring out the finer detail in an image of what is actually on the surface is necessary to have a better understanding of what is really there when some of the detail has been deliberately obfuscated by other parties.
I feel that as long as the original image is shown in a thread, to which we can make reference, I see no problem with the graphical variants being displayed, especially if the process highlights features that would otherwise not be seen in the original image.

The shelved creatures that look like human craniums are brought out in this photo by ESA. Notice also they adorn two open doors to the inner Mars. The critter at the center of the crater is also worth mentioning.
