anyway try this one which looks more like a road and possibly a white boundary wall (red arrows), but  this could just be the same track at a different angle. I had thought that there were 3 vehicles going along it, but they do not seem to be moving, so they are probably rocks(centre right middle track section).

Chandre, you are right of course. How stupid of me, I was getting carried away as I do...

I will have to quickly go and find some other examples of tracks to make up for my mistake!
There are those 'insect' or rolling rock tracks that I found too, and various other members have found tracks and paths.

copy and paste the url into the Photograph Name Decode program and as long as it is from the rover Spirit or Opportunity, it will decode the characters in the name for you. Then you can go search for others in the series if you like by using the search program. Link is in my signature.

A quick guide to rovers. If the image number starts with 1P.... its and Opportunity image, if it starts with 2P... its a Spirit image. Qmantoo has an excellent programme that converts the images to Sol days or gives more info on an individual image. Found on the Main Page under Mars Section.

I am sure he will give you more feedback.

I would like to do a little more on my part Q and try to rule out...or rule in...some of these anomalies

I'm trying to do a little research and PLOT the actual path of rovers in correlation with the anomalies that have been shown. I do see that nasa has detailed path traverse content and am just trying to establish the basics as how to "chart" the images shown so to speak.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, just a quick question....and slightly off topic

How do I discern which rover took which which image....?

sol number is not good enough alone right?

and I understand spirit is stuck...but when it was moving how do I tell the difference between older images that are presented?

Thanx
SP

This is a good place to post anything we find of this type. I thinks this image is of the rover tracks ? The one wheel is digging in deeper but the other is lighter and visble at stages ?

I have noticed many tracks or roads in the photographs. I cannot say for sure that they are made by life forms - they could be made by wind or water or such as dust devils. However, one of the signs of life must be some kind of regular movement from A to B places and unless the life forms fly, it is likely there will be tracks/roads/etc

Maybe we can have a thread for this?

This picture has some curious paths (on a small scale), going across the bottom of the picture and some larger earthworks that appear to go into the distance with several fairly right-angle bends. In fact if you look carefully, you may be able to see it extending all the way to the top left into the distance.

I wonder what makes these and what they are used for? Clearly (to me) these are unlikely tracks made by the dust devils.
