there is nothing in this image that remotely resembles anything other than rocks and soil.
I tend to agree with you WingedOne (all except the bottom left anomaly and the pipe), however it is an interesting image in a different way, I have down loaded the JPL image, and looking at the hillside there there seems to be some sort of activity either rising dust or vapour (or it could be a poor attempt at trying to edit the image).
The other curious thing about the image, is that it looks like a copy of a photograph, the image has a grainy texture like that of paper and not pixels...... this image warrants further investigation.
It is easy to overlook the obvious when looking for something new, and sometimes we need to take the time to have another look at the evidence in front of us before passing judgement.

Notice the round pipe, half buried in the soil. There is also a "Y" pipe below it. This photo has lots of goodies. I sent this to Chris Holly several months ago and she posted this in one of her articles. Notice the triangle on the "rock" in the lower left corner. http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/p/1918/2P296642423EFFB1DQP2287L2M1.JPG
