Thanks Xenon, that really is fascinating. VERY interesting time-line on the catastrophe, 5000 to 15000 years ago !!! That would explain why some of the debris is still visble under the sand.

On one of my many web link rambles off the beaten track (loosing the thread while searching), I came across this fascinating hypothesis about the bombardment of Mars.

Please take time to read through it, as it could have a baring on the subjects covered at this forum.

Personally it makes perfect sense to me, as the Martian terrain and its moons bare the scars of a recent catastrophe............ The scars of Mars
