Here is a crop from the image Levelwind uploaded a few post above.

I have managed to improve the edge definition but a magnifier will be required to view the finer object detail.

You may be very surprised at what can be observed.

Hey Josh, I checked out the link and photo you posted

and I can't tell.  It's the right area but is probably taken from a

different angle.  It does look like a tower structure to me.

The crop on the right is the area that you circled.

LW, here is a Mosiac from Smart1 I tried to cross reference with the Chinese Chang'e image. This may be the smaller anomaly you highlighted..

What do you think? I highlighted in PURPLE

Hi Gene, no I didn't notice that.  I was just blown away by that turret looking thing.  I'm surprised they didn't catch it.  When

I was looking through the China pictures yesterday I noticed a lot of tampering.  The same old kind

NASA has been using for ever.  Some of the images are the worst resolution I seen come back from space.

Even China expects us to believe they would spend billions on something like this and put crappy cameras on the thing.

I really do think they just missed this area.  It's the only thing we can hope for when you're trying to look into this.

I thought the areas to the right and top left looked of the crop looked suspicious too.

Hi Levelwind  very interesting images and good find. I see that you have highlighted a structure in red. Did you notice the pole or rod like structure which seems to run upwards across the face of 2 or 3 rocks / structures?

I have tried to highlight it below for you with arrows. Also a 2nd crack or pole running off right. Or could this be a shadow of the first maybe?

A lot fun looking at these.  Evidence of life is everywhere.  I agree with Mac the rocks do look water eroded and

rover tracks are clumpy like the soil is wet.

 Excellent find smile

The movies are pretty neat.  This one they call Alpine Valley and I can see why.  Looks like a river bed to me too.

I also find it interesting that these rocks are "rounded"cracked and slightly worn down but how is that possible if there is no atmosphere or water?I believe there is a certain amount of radiation weathering where cosmic rays hit the surface and degrade the rocks over time. Now.. whether this is enough to produce the rounded rocks, I dont know but some could be meteorites which landed on the lunar surface too.

Just look at all the spectacular object detail showing in this view. Who would have thought this possible?

Looks like the tiny-sized martians hitched a lift to the moon as well.

Best to view with an optical magnifier.

Here is the context image for the upper left sectional view shown above.

The original downloaded image I have resampled and saved as a jpeg.

Just take a look at this. You will need an good optical magnifier to view and appreciate the host of object detail on the surface.

I have decreased the brightness by 50% and have deliberately increased the colour saturation by 100% to show the colour differences between objects.

I think the finding of these objects on the lunar surface has to be something new as I can find nothing about it in any scientific reports or papers.

Is there an undiscovered species living on the surface of the moon?

I would ask you to look very closely at the tiny objects on the surface and the variety of different colours that are showing.

Looks like there is evidence of life or past life everywhere in our solar system. Here is a strange object from the same set of pictures from the site Goggog linked. I thought at first this was behind the rock but as I zoomed in it appears to be obscuring part of the rock. I also find it interesting that these rocks are "rounded"cracked and slightly worn down but how is that possible if there is no atmosphere or water?

Here is another 3D view from the same stereo pair of images. Take note of the very small object detail on the surface. Enjoy.

In this image I have highlighted some of the interesting objects and shapes that can be seen in the colour-difference view as seen above.

The yellow ellipse contains what I think is a chimney or stack. Is that a whiff of smoke I see being emitted from the stack?

I have reduce the width to 800 pixels wide to aid recognition of the objects. Do some of these objects look like structures to you?

In all the Apollo missions and this latest Chinese mission it would appear that the small surface object detail is being overlooked.

Remember, this is an oblique view so you are viewing the tiny surface objects at an angle to the vertical.

Many of the Chang'e lunar views are provided as stereo pairs. This is useful as a true 3D image can be produced.

An example is shown below but you will need a pair of red/blue glasses to appreciate the depth characteristic.

To view in full screen press F11 on your keyboard.

Here is a close view of the upper right quadrant of the image shown above.

I have increased the colour saturation by 150% to demonstrate the different colours of small objects on the surface.

In many of the lunar images the regolith appears as one colour but as we zoom in really close different colours are showing.

What could possibly account for these different colours? I think I may know a possible answer for this phenomenon.

It would be interesting to know if the Chinese Space team working on the project are aware of the reason for these objects being different colours.

There are clues to be found in the very top strip of the image.

I have produced a true 3D view from one of the stereo pairs and the result was very successful.

As the images are in colour I increased the colour saturation on one of the images and it's amazing how many different coloured objects I spotted.

Here is a sectional view from one of the original images I downloaded. The image has been resampled due to the large size of the downloaded image.

If you hover your cursor over the view, the number of the image should appear. I have placed a green ellipse around an object that caught my eye straight away.

Viewing the detail I was beginning to think this view was of the martian surface and not the lunar surface due to the shapes of some of the very small objects.

I think we are going to find some very interesting finds and other anomalous features in these Chang'e views.

qmantoo, Many thanks for posting the Chang'e catalogue info.

I have had a look at some of the captures and they would appear to be very interesting.

As the left and right versions of the views have been posted I will be able to produce some true 3D versions.

In this article, it seems that China has released all its Moon photos If so, then we can have a field day - maybe!!

Luckily, Emily Lakdawalla from the Planetary Society spent the last week navigating the Chinese database and is currently hosting a suite of China’s lunar images on the Planetary Society Website.

However, the ones on that webpage in the link to techcrunch come from Emily Lakdawalla and have the sky blacked out and there are various other blacked-out parts of those photos. I hope those images are the ones which are compressed for the web and the real things will be larger and better quality. I suspect Emily knows that most people will not bother to go to the Chinese website and create an account there to get the originals.

I have not managed to get an account on the Chinese website yet, and it is all in Chinese characters too but I hope when I do, there will be better images there. Somehow I doubt it, but you never know though... maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

For a moment there I got all excited as I thought the Chinese might have got one over on the USA and NASA.

Edit -  An explanation about how to go about registering on the Chinese website

Emily's  downloaded 35Gbyte copy of the two datasets
