Gen, I found this on Apollo deep core drill. It was all I could find.

Does anybody know whether the Apollo astronauts actually drilled into boulders on any of the missions?

I came across this photo and couldn't help notice the perfect hole on the side of this boulder. I know they took core

samples on the surface but I'm not sure about anything else. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Any help is greatly appreciated. TG  I have shown the photo with hole highlighted and enlarged.

As a distraction from scanning the LRO images I have been looking through the internet trying to find anomalies in Apollo photos or films. Im then trying to find similar examples from my collection that may explain or add weight to their actual existence. I have found a photo although I am not familiar with it which was taken by an astronaut on the surface. It is top left on the slide below. The originalis way off in the distance. (I hope it hasnt already proven to be a fake)

Any way please see my examples of shadows forming something similar.

The main photo is a still shot I have taken from an Apollo 16 film namely As16v1242320.mpg In this shot the camera is being panned 360 degrees around the moon buggy. As it comes around towards Spook crater in the distance it captures this image. Whats I also found interesting is what the astronauts are saying to NASA back on earth. Rather than go into that in any depth I'll just stick to the image. Observations welcome and can anyone please tell me where the  top left apollo head image is from?

Link to film - http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/a16/a16v.1242320.mpg

There is no timing on the film but the indicator is about half way along literally 2 seconds after the astronaut cleans dust of the lens with his brush.

Acore hi it looks like you’ve put that one to rest. Well done. I was concerned that I couldn’t find a second photo to show that the anomaly was as it seemed (i.e in the air casting a shadow) but as you will see from my post I took a chance anyway and put a warning on it for anyone looking at it. Well done again.

..those shadows are really interesting ! also the amount of straight lines and almost 90° angles !

tycho-LRO-1.jpg

1A - shadow of tower !

1B - possible location of tower !

2 - notice the shadow shape of that hill !

3 - almost 2 identically rectangles (pits)!

Ive included the next slide here as there is every possibilty it is created by shadow or pixelation. However I think someone on the site said recently 'I can only show what is there!!' So with that in mind......and no enhancement by me other than magnification of the LROC image.

This slide shows what seems to be a somewhat flat surface image like a  Nasca line drawing. To the right of it however appears to be a 3D object which looks for anything like a hand holding an olympic sized torch. (This must be an illusion even if the drawing is real) Its probable that a lot of things have come together at just the right moment to make this image possible. But then again.........

I've added this slide under Shadow anomalies as it truly defies explanation other than a shadow or a mark formed on a rock. Or is it?

The co-ordinates for the machine like object producing what seems to be a dust cloud below is:

Lat:- (-43.92756)  Long:- (-11.88628)

This is what it looks like at a lower magnification.

Its taken me a long time to decide whether to post these 2 photos as they are the easiest to shoot down. I am not an expert on shadows or dust clouds on the moon so Im taking a chance. All I can ask is that members treat these anomalies with caution as I am not too sure myself.

In the first photo the small craft-like object to the upper right appears to be casting a shadow on the 'rock' behind. I have searched in vain to find another explanation for the shadow but I cant find one in the photo. The angle of the other shadows on the surface seems pretty much the same but I leave that for the observer to decide.

In the second photo a long craft-like object seems to be causing a dust cloud immediately to the left of it.
