Hi guys don't know if you have a link below to this but here is the LROCs version of events. Chang e 3 can be seen as a small white dot in the centre of the right hand image (with a shadow)

I am somewhat surprised that the space agencies do not seem interested in what is really on the lunar surface, and Mars as well for that matter. Unusual surface objects during the Phoenix mission were seen in their thousands but NASA did not seem interested in these particular features. All they wanted to do was to find out the chemical composition of the terrain and whether or not water-ice was available with a complete disregard for anything else that was on the surface. It seems that the same modus operandi exists with the latest Chinese mission. They have put a rover on the lunar surface with a complete disregard of the objects and other features it is rolling over. Examining the images close up it is plain to see that what is showing on the lunar surface at this location is not dirt or rocks but something else that appears to have deliberate and definite form.

Here is a slightly sharpened version of the image shown above. A close examination reveals that the shapes on the surface are not small rocks or dirt.

The colour saturation was reduced by 25%.

It's no wonder the wheel tracks made by the rover appear to be damp or wet.

Just look at the host of very small objects on the surface and these objects are not tiny rocks.

If the terrain was dry and only composed of small rocks and dirt the marks made by the wheels should be much lighter.

The image was initially softened and then sharpened. The colour saturation was increased by 100% and the brightness lowered.

I have had another look at this Chang'e 3 image and something close to the rover's wheels caught my eye as being unusual and out of the ordinary.

To the right of the rover wheels is a light-coloured object that stands out.

I reduced the gamma right down in an effort to determine if the object is a rock or something else and whilst making this adjustment noticed that what is actually on the surface is not lunar dirt but some detail that is much more interesting.

The section was cropped then resized to 600 pixels wide.

Take a look at the image and see what you make of it.

Yeah ... There's lots of stuff here ...  I wonder if the Chinese government will be more open than the US government about whats there.  But somehow I doubt that.  Its a matter of who ever gets there first with long term sustainability.

Whoever does it is going to be rich in alien tech.  Even if they don't fine tech and only pieces of things we aren't able to reverse engineer there's still much intrinsic value due to the stuff being alien artifacts.   But then again,  the Chinese are masters at reverse engineering, then mass producing and then selling for cheap.

Hi Divinity, I've had a look at the anomaly and have tried to resolve it better. This is the best I can do.

The colour saturation has also been increased by 100%.

Maybe, when the rover moves it may get closer to the object and capture a new view including the object.

There are also other anomalous objects showing in this sectional view.

Does anyone have/know where to getW020131222454969534997a.jpg

higher res photos from Chang'e?

There is a big something as shown by the arrow in this pic, but zooming pixelates too much to make out anything.

Xenon, Take a close look at the anomalous surface objects in the Apollo 15 image referenced above.

There are objects on the surface that are not related in any way to the buggy tyre marks or the astronaut's footprints.

Download the image and increase the pixel width nine times to get a better view of what the objects could be.

I have produced some 3D versions of the view and will post later.

The same thought crossed my mind when I seen the image of the rover driving off the ramp on the soil, the astronauts also claimed that the fine dust would stick to everything, these new images show a soil totally different to the Apollo photographs

Is it just me or does the soil at this landing look very different to the powder-fine almost 'magnetic' soil at the US landing sites ? This looks coarser and almost damp (although I know that cannot be) but it is not throwing up dust clouds as it moves ?

Have a close look at what there is to see in this view.

I have placed an ellipse around some of the interesting anomalous formations.

The image was saved as png file. You may have to use a zoom facility to view the features.

goggog, Thanks for posting the images.

Your image is showing many features on the landscape but the objects are very small and are probably no more than 3 to 10 millimetres in height.

I hope the Chinese mission team take a real close look at these small objects to determine exactly what they are as they do not look like ordinary rocks to me.

Note that the shapes of some of these surface objects look very artificial.

Here is a crop from your view in greyscale.

In this initial image from Jade Rabbit I have placed an ellipse around some of the areas of interest. There are also more anomalies to observe.

At this point in time I am not going to say what I can see in the images shown below but I think you will find the detail of interest.

The image is a crop taken from the lower left quadrant of the main image.

I have increased the brightness and the contrast values and have reduced the colour saturation slightly.

Please excuse the quality as the original is not very sharp. Nevertheless, it is sufficient to make out some of the detail.

The second image is a greyscale version.

Congratulations to China on their latest space mission.

The lander has set down on the surface of the moon in the Bay of Rainbows and has already deployed the rover called 'Jade Rabbit'.

The first image from the camera onboard the rover has been received.

It would appear that artificial lighting may have been used for the capture as the luminance at centre of the image is much more intense than around the edges.

Two images are shown below. The first is the original download. I have resized the second image to 800 pixels and increased the colour saturation by 50%.

Take note of the surface detail in the foreground. It would seem there are some small shapes and other anomalous objects showing that shouldn't be there.
