Q, hello. Have, as so many of us, looked at this particular ' cliff ' numerous times now. It is correctly, a near fabrication or ' re-structuring ' of an originally pristine and quite revealing picture. Can we actually believe, or even consider, that NASA et al is employing thousands of specialists, and deploying billions of dollars on dissemination programs, with its attendant and massive obfuscation department(s), to hide and conceal what they onced claimed was ..  a planet without air or water, and 200 or more below zero? That it is a barren, lifeless planet with ' nothing there ', and that it has just been sitting there ' billions of years '? We , especially as anomaly-researchers , would be quite silly or naive to think that is so in the least. Contrarily , there is, and we are certainly all aware of this,  something - of such importance , interest , and .. value .. as to go to these extreme lengths to keep it absolutely hidden , and to discourage or discredit any attempts to demonstrate any possible evidence otherwise.

The '  walls ', in the ' pic ' ,are largely composed or built-up of computer-generated stone ' slabs ' that, in some cases, do not match, or are somehow not anchored or attached to anything .. anywhere .. some appear to be suspended or just floating in thin air.

The ' striation ' marks are nowhere to be seen on the adjacent cliff walls .. only on this specially-prepared show-window piece prepared for and as an amazing ' public release ' . From the ' walls ',  textured-striation .. and such, it would initially seem to lack a context for interpretational-value -and, as such would be more or less a write-off for researchers. There are however a number of weak-spots in the obfuscation, I think diliberate,  which permits and presents an entirely different scene than what had been prepared for the public at large. The keen-eyed rdunk has been aware of this for some time now , as I have noted his comments from time to time on this very subject .. and walls. I was about to write ' will be pleased to view his project in progress on this " Cliff " and such matters .. " but I see he has indeed just posted .. and so must attend to read his work and view his pic analysis soonest.

A good choice Q , in a find that has great instructional value as material for your AA collegues and friends to learn some on becoming proficient and discerning in a subject we are all quite delighted in and with. Cheers my friend  , smile    / -M

Yes Q, it could be tampering/obfusication. And we have discussed tampering here probably more than once relative to this Cape St. Vincent.

In my un-technical opinion, i believe the Rover photos of this area have been completely distorted. Actually, while looking more on a different photo, relative to your "smoke", I see what I think is evidence that all of the lined "texture" on these rocks is applied. I believe it to be very possible that if we could see the actual original photos of this area, it would eliminate any question about evidentuary evidence of civilized life being/having been on Mars. Even with the tampering, there still is enough left to see, that we do (in my opinion) still have the evidence of other life here.

To me, that "texturing" has always looked fake, but, as I said, I only saw this "particular new evidence" a little while ago, while looking for your smoke!   biggrin.gif

Using a new OP, for discussion, I will post what I believe to be pictorial evidence of that tampering, for all here to see.

rdunk - Yes Q, most of the images I have of Cape St. Vincent do not show the whisp of smoky looking stuff that your pic has. Maybe that was a leftover on some pics, from the obfuscation that seems to have been done here, on the cliff walls.Yes, could be tampering I suppose. The other thing that occurred to me was that it might be some kind of path along the side of the cliff face. There certainly is a lot of smudging and blurring in those images but I have seen smoke in other photos but that was mostlly smaller scale and from items on the ground.

I honestly thought I had found a column of smoke coming from the rocks, but now I am fairly certain that it is not. I have done a quick gif animated image of 4 of these photos and this structure is not moving at all. If it was smoke it would have changed shape.

However, whatever it is is spanning a gap between rock outcrops.

There is also a white columnar thing at the top left of the red box which I am fairly sure is not a rock and which may be something interesting too.

Details of this series are below for you to investigate or speculate if you wish.
=================================
Rover    Opportunity
Sol    1121
Site    80
Camera    Pancam

This is version 1 of a photograph produced for M - MIPL (OPGS) at JPL on Wed, 21 Mar 2007 GMT at 00:43 which is Sol 1121.

It was taken with the Pancam instrument, through the Left camera, using filter number 7, 440nm (25) on the Mars Rover Opportunity.

It is a Full frame EDR picture which is raw, is NOT liniarised, and is NOT thumbnail sized

This data was captured at site number 80(80) on drive number K7, and the command sequence number P2389 was instructed by PMA & Remote Sensing instr. (Pancam, Navcam, Hazcam, MI, Mini-TES) and belongs to the group 2000 through 2899 - Pancam sequences
